Toluwanimi is an interdisciplinary artist whose work in poetry, textiles and folk crafts flows between the worlds of the personal and communal. The writings, objects, and experiences that she creates hold cultural memory and tend to the spirits of the communities she comes from.

She is the former Youth Poet Laureate of Colorado, a two-time TEDx speaker, and a published author with Haymarket Books and Penmanship Books. As a textile artist, she is a recipient of a Folk & Traditional Arts Award from the National Endowment for the Arts, with work exhibited at Governor’s Island (NY) and the Colorado State Capitol.
